Travelogue: Summer Vacation

(Charlene Gwyn S. Golosino)

Every summer I always head up to Davao City where in the sister of my mother, together with her big family, live. A small city located in the Southern Mindanao in the Philippines, Davao City is one of the country’s famous summer destinations. The peaceful city that you can rewind your mind and do some joyful things.

With its durian fruit, street foods, and delicious foods you can taste would probably beloved by tourist. During summer season the temperature would rise especially in Davao City.

It was six o’clock in the morning when my cousin picked me up at our house on his own car to travel Davao City to have summer vacation on their place for almost two weeks. It was a nice trip, the road is just like a chocolate inside the superstix that rolled around and can cause dizzy for almost three hours  from Lantapan Bukidnon to arrive Davao City.

When we entered the City of Davao, we stopped twice because of the checkpoints. At almost nine thirty a.m. when we arrived in their home place, a very nice subdivision.

For the first week of my stay there I already have been to their different malls to hang out with my cousins without enough money for shopping new clothes, etc but enough money to buy foods wherever we want to eat. The foods was very good though, it is expensive still we enjoyed the foods.

On the other day I was a vendor of vegetables in the market beside me is my cousins. We sell of vegetables for my auntie’s small business. Being a vendor once in the market was the best experience.

The last day of my stay there was my favourite hangout together with my cousins. We attended DU31 Thanksgiving Party where I witnessed with my two eyes some of Manila artists, senator, the voice finalist and the highlights of the event the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

During the thanksgiving party encountered a lot of struggle like it was already midnight when we walked four kilometres in a floody road soaked of the heavy rain; our cell phone got wet and destroyed, and we skipped our dinner, etc.

Another day had come, I needed to go back in my home place in Lantapan, Bukidnon. But before heading there I brought some stuff for my family, friends and after buying those stuff, I entered my cousin’s car heading back home.

One has to realize something particular about Davao City: their tourist spot. It was a very peaceful, order and most favoured place as a summer destination. And even in a short time that I spent there to bond with my relative; I feel very complete and happy that money is not a hindrance going far from our house and it was a very nice trip that until now it is kept my mind.

Travelogue: My Granny’s House

(Defiche Rose Ompoc)

My alarm wakes me, but I did not get up. Mama knocked  the door and say “get up” for we have an important route today. I pushing my heavy legs and dazzling head. I walked on the mirror greet myself a good morning and have my morning bath. I was surprised that my personal stuff was already pack with my Kuya. And as excepted we will be going out for some called travel. We will be visiting my grandparents  house located at the elite part of Barangay Aglayan, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

I feel excited and a bit curious about the happenings in my little town called “tower”. It been a while last I had visited my “kababayan” back then. They say it was called as tower for there a lot of towers installed there to connect electricity and be reach by phone signals. I really miss the green and relieving views by the natural landscapes. Breathing the fresh air, catching dragon flies, seeing those dancing bamboos and the coconut trees that are really awesome tall. The river that is clear and sparkling. It is really worth to experience. We just need to ride on a “multicad”going to the public market of barangay Aglayan and upon reaching the market you need to ride on the motorcycle called “habal-habal” to pass on the rough road that really makes the your head road. It was a kind of a thrill and a head awakening scene. Entering the barrio you will see the chapel first and of course the crops and plantings of the people that really captures my eyes. There are also a lot of fruitful trees like that are said to be older than me. And I can’t help it, I’m on my way to see it!

Travelogue: A Place To Be

(Allyn Jed Lahoylahoy)

Kalilangan is still the one and will always be, as one of my favorite place to be. It has just an average area and is said to be as one of those progressive, second class municipalities in Bukidnon. Kalilangan is greatly sorrounded by terrained, sloppy mountains in where you will enjoy doing the said mountaineering activities. There is no tour guides since mostly the mountains and the “bukids” were not yet truly discovered and some are haven’t yet been visited.

Underground spring resorts can also be offered in Kalilangan, the water were so cold where you can find a great refreshments, the water doesn’t came from the faucet or out of any sources but only from the underground. The pools in there were big, average and smalls, in fact there are more or less than ten pools in each family resorts; the Pendons and Bajao’s spring resort are located at sitio Kinura in Kalilangan.

The reason why I like Kalilangan is because you can find solace and peace in mind where fresh air blows and you can find rest on your city life. You can swim whatever you want and you can hike wherever you want. The food in there were also good, you can get a coconut from the coconut tree where you can make a “lamaws”. The people in Kalilangan were good, friendly and nice to be with. When I was there, I stayed at my aunt’s cabin since it is just a small place you can feel secured even if you will take a jog at the early dawn no one will touch you. So I find Kalilangan as a good place and it will always be a good place to me.

Tavelogue: Unforgetabble

(Leahlyn A. Hintapa)

“Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world”-Gustave Flaube

Traveling is one of my habit. I love traveling anywhere together with my family or friends. One of my most unforgettable experience in traveling is back when I am just elementary, when my parents decide to visit my grandmother in Tubaran, Iligan City. We leave here in Malaybalay City early in the morning to arrive their early. The travel going there is quiet long, but I enjoy the ride. I saw different beautiful views. And I am so happy to see it. When we already arrive there, we go directly into my grandma’s house. And there, I see my grandmother and my other cousins and I am so happy to see them because it is already long time since we see each other. They are also happy to see us visiting them. On the next day, my cousins invited me to have some fun and we decided to have a mountain climbing. The mountain is tall enough to climb, and while we are climbing we make some talks and jokes to ignore the tired in climbing the mountain. It is so tiring, hot, and many more discomfort that we feel. But when we arrive at the peak of the mountain, it is breathtaking and all the struggle tiring moments are paid. It is all worth it. At the peak of the mountain, we saw many beautiful views, the city of Iligan and many more. I feel like I’m in heaven, the wind blows hard, I can smell the fresh air and I can see many beautiful flowers and all the area is surrounded with Bermuda grass. The area is well managed by my grandma, she make it as her garden, a small garden. There I can smell the fragrance of the flowers. I forgot all of my problems and sorrows and worries. Together with my cousins, we enjoy the moment, talking, eating, laughing and many more. After that we decide to go home because it’s already 3 o’clock in the afternoon, so we go home. And those experieces, plays an important part of my life that I will never forget as the time pass by.

Narrative: fOUNDATION dAY

(Charlene Gwyn S. Golosino)

Foundation Day is a designated date on which celebrations mark the f ounding of an institution. Full happiness may not be found within 24 hours but when it is a special day, you may find it in every second has passed. Last July 17-21 & 24, 2017 the 76th Foundation and 42nd Nationalization Day of Bukidnon National High School (BNHS) was commenced happily, excitingly, and peacefully with the theme  “Bukidnon National High School: 1941 and still on the run”. In celebrating the most important days of our school, the Foundation Day, memorable experiences have come up better and become remarkable. Before the final day of the celebration the Supreme Student Government of BNHS made and prepared some activities to be participated by some students  who are interested in the Dance Revo, Next Singing Star, Runway for Mr & Miss BNHS 2017 which was done  at the school gymnasium.

The last day of our celebration come on a Monday July 24, 2017 where all students and teachers from Grades 7-12 participated on field demonstration on the said event. Students from different level do it their very best in their performance. The BNHS student and teacher have enjoyed so much in performing their group presentation, even though they were not able to get the winning title the students and teachers were still happy and proud of their group performance. In the afternoon there was an acquaintance party and foam party for all the students and teachers to mingle and have fun. This day is for all the students, teachers, faculty, & staff of BNHS because the foundation day serves and can be considered as one institution.

NARRATIVE: MEMORY OF MIND”

(Defiche Rose V. Ompoc)

Bukidnon National High Scholl celebrates its 76th years of being one of a kind prestigious school not just in Bukidnon but all out through the country. In line with celebration are the different activities which both the students and teachers actively participated.

July 21, 2017, I cheerfully witness the search for the next Mr.&Ms. BNHS 2017. The program starts early two in the afternoon. The gymnasium was overflowing with crowd. Students from grades seven up to grade twelve join the named activity to support their each representatives. The afternoon was very hot, trigger by the noise that the audience were yelling, shouting and even screams. But despite of the annoying scenario it does not stop me to enjoy the event. And I were personally proud that the proclaim Mr.BNHS was our very own candidate, namely Mr.Lambert Donime.

The next activity that I really enjoy was our presentation of our field demonstration. It’s like a fiesta of hats where in all the students from each grade level showcased their colourful, unique different hats. The presentation was held at the school field and it was so heart-warming that we won the ‘’most energetic” and “most disciplined” award from that event.

In short the celebration was quite quick but it was really worth keeping. A memory that would always be in ones mind.

NARRATIVE: When She’s Getting Older

(Allyn Jed Lahoylahoy)

Most of my life’s time was spend with her. Everyon knows me as being a lola’s li’l brat. Turning into a young lady at a young age still, I am with her. My lola was my safe place and could be my pillow in tears. I akways find love and care in her. I couldn’t imagine my life would be if she would leave me right away.

It was 27th of January 2017; the day before her 84th birthday, where we her family prepared a surprise birthday celebration for her and visit her at the home for the aged in Maramag, Bukidnon where she preferred to stay then.

January 28, her birthday we came to her. Instead for her to be surprised, we are surprised! We fined out that she couldn’t talk clearly the words that came out from her will be couldn’t be understood and the most heartbreaking scenery was that she couldn’t recognize us.

As the days follows, the pain really hurts where I can’t take a straight look towards her. She couldn’t even knows how to handle the spoon. She’s not now the strong and young woman I knew, she became weak and lonely where I can’t talk to her anymore the way we do. I am hoping that someday she’ll be fine, that she could talk now clearly ’cause she’s my great grandmother who act as my mother. A great grandmother being a biological mother to me.

PERSONAL ESSAY: “Untamed Words: EMBLEM of WILD ACTIONS”

(Charlene Gwyn S. Golosino)

The modern State of the Philippine Government is a noticeable phenomenon President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the current leader of the country is known to be a man of action and word, his words are remarkable in a sense that it really matters. And his actions manifests who is he acting as himself and as an effective leader. It is undeniable that although his programs are as aggressive as on how he implements it still people are wholly supporting and he is ford of promises. Considering the fact that in his first year of being a president, he fully had an impressive action with regards to fighting against illegal drugs and criminality. Looking at those drug users who surrendered and the huge number of drug addicts that were slayed through the “Oplan Tokhang” is something that justifies his aim for a better nation. Despite of criticisms from foreign lands and even from country’s personalities still he was tough to become a man of his genuine self by not changing his plans in spite of unfavourable reviews.

Comparable to the regime of Dictator Ferdinand Marcos, President Duterte have underwent implementing Martial Law in Mindanao for due purpose which is to cover the people in Mindanao safely against the attack of terrorism. Oppositions were boldly emphasized with regards to this matter for some people thought that the oppressive country that Marcos had made to existence over the past few years will be happening again. This implementation was subject for only two months but due to continued siege in Marawi, it was extended until December 2017. Citizens from Marawi was a miserable one considering the fact that everyone had to make adjustment in settling to different and strange environments just to be away from the attack.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte is a known leader who made such a great contribution to the progress of the country, a progress that surely would be beneficial for the Filipino Citizens. His wild disposition in the nation made people fear him and his wildness  hand covered his good heart and pure intention for the service he have had just done.

PERSONAL ESSAY: I am Me

(Defiche Rose V. Ompoc)

Every individual differs in any sort of status, believes, beliefs, traits and principle. I myself am a quite an introvert person. I prefer to remain silent, walk alone, and lock myself in my room instead of hanging out with crowds. I wear palm shoes rather than doll shoes. I enjoy all sort of foods without any worry about my weight. I love black not pink. I prefer to wear extra-large shirts than those crop top and sexy stuffs.  Most my friend s calls me a weirdo and a different one. I don’t know why I seem to be like this.  And there are times that I even don’t understand myself. But despite of this I still learned to love my self. For I believe that nobody can love me, but me. I love myself for being different and stupid sometimes.  I love myself for just being me. Because I’m real.

As a student, our ultimate goal in going to school everyday is that we want to earn a good grades and to graduate successfully, to have a great work and could help our parents in the future.

I really believe that the most important key to our future success is through the help of our parents together with our perseverance and determination in life. I also believe that the grades we recieve is what we deserve because the grades we get depends on the effort we give. I am not really a good student, but I also could get good grades because even if I am that good atleast I give all my best on every school activities and that’s the thing which I am proud of.

Somehow, someday our great ambitions in life will be given to us, we just need to focus and go on for any challenges in life.

Personal essay: Material and non-material factors of happiness

(Leahlyn A. Hintapa)

When we say happiness, we can directly put in our mind that it is a stage that we can forget our problems, we are smiling, comfortable and many more. Happiness is a state of being happy, in mind, all of the aspects of our lives. It is a feeling that you are away from harm, getting whatever you want, be with your loved ones and many more. For me, happiness has 2 factors a material and non-material factors of happiness. Material factor of happiness, it is a state that you are happy because you have the material that you want. It is what we called as our wants in life. It can be seen and touch. This factor of happiness is just temporary, but still we are happy because there are moments of our lives that we can called ourselves that we are materialistic. And many of us has this kind of attitude. The second one is non-material factor of happiness, this kind of happiness is the best one for me. We can’t see nor touch this kind of happiness. Like happy being with your loved ones, your family, friends and many more that is closed to your heart. It is important that you are happy in all aspects of your life, mentally, physically, spiritually and socially happy. Another example of this kind of happiness is the happiness with God that you have relationship with God and this is the way to eternal happiness that no one can compare. All of this factors of happiness are both important of our lives, but the most important one is the non-material factor of happiness because we can spread the love, peace, freedom, respect and many more by the non-material factor of happiness.
